Instructional Methodologies
In believing in a learner-centered approach to learning, our school will use a variety of methods in order to accommodate different learning styles and multiple intelligences among the learner population. The three primary instructional models are:
  • Direct Instruction: (lecture method) will be used to convey basic information and uses explanation as the main mode of instruction.
  • Interactive Instruction: involves the active participation of learners and employs questioning and critical thinking skills.
  • Cooperative Learning:  is the process through which the responsibility of learning lies with learners. It will involve the use of inductive and deductive reasoning in addition to problem solving and higher order thinking.  In this case our teachers serve as facilitators of the learning process to groups of learners formed to suit the learner activity, the learner’s temperament, learning style and multiple intelligences.

 Research clearly indicates that the use of individualized teaching and learning is needed in order to nurture learners’ multiple intelligences and to accommodate their learning styles; hence the use of active and cooperative learning. These teaching and learning strategies are employed to implement the multilevel system so that weaker learners are supported and gifted learners are enriched. It provides a great opportunity for learners to maximize their learning experience and reach their full potential.

Our instructional models will emphasize the connections between subject area disciplines in order for learners to develop a comprehensive understanding of the world. They will provide the opportunity for learners to participate in planning and delivering instruction. This allows them to exercise a greater control of what and how they learn, instilling in them, from a young age, the qualities of life-long learners. The instructional methods used will be enriched by learning experiences through "hands-on” activities, field trips, the use of technology and science laboratories, as well as library and the World Wide Web research resources.
